Jeff Romansky, CHS, CPCA
Founder & President
Jeff began his insurance career in 2006 with RBC Insurance, where he supported hundreds of advisors across Ontario through training, consultation, and business development support. His ability to build strong relationships, paired with his positive approach and technical expertise, led to multiple awards, including being recognized as the top performer in his role across Canada on several occasions.
After nine successful years at RBC, Jeff decided to pursue his long-time goal of launching his own brokerage. Today, he specializes in helping professionals, executives, and owner-managed businesses with individual insurance, income protection, estate planning, and employee benefits. Since then, he has grown his practice significantly and is now regarded as one of the top brokers in Canada, known for his consultative approach and advanced planning knowledge.
Much of Jeff’s practice is built on referrals from clients, accountants, other advisors, and Certified Financial Planners. He is also active online, educating the personal finance community on the importance of proper insurance planning.
Jeff proudly serves clients throughout Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. As an independent broker, he works solely in the best interest of his clients, not the insurance companies. Clients appreciate his educational, pressure-free approach and the clarity he brings to complex planning decisions. When needed, Jeff collaborates with trusted accountants, lawyers and financial planners to ensure his clients’ broader financial objectives are met. Many clients view him as a long-term partner in their personal and corporate planning.
Jeff lives in Smithville with his wife and daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing with friends, curling and spending time at horse shows with his family.
Melissa Romansky, BSc, BScPhm
Director of Client Services
Melissa joined her husband at SecurePlan in 2021 after spending more than 15 years working as a pharmacist.
As Director of Client Services, Melissa ensures that all of our inforce clients are fully taken care of. We never expect clients to contact the insurance carrier directly. Melissa coordinates administrative updates such as banking changes, address changes, beneficiary updates and claims assistance. She also monitors payment reminders and important policy dates so our clients never miss anything. Melissa takes pride in making the insurance experience stress-free for clients and ensuring they always feel supported and informed.
Melissa is also a key partner to Jeff. She helps prepare for client meetings and organizes supporting material to ensure every client receives maximum value from their time with us.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University, majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Business. She also earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto.
A lifelong resident of the Niagara region, Melissa lives in Smithville with her husband and daughter. When she is not working or spending time with family and friends, she can usually be found at the barn with her horses.
Kelly Gadula
New Business & Operations Manager
Kelly graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science degree and began her career as a cardiovascular technician. She transitioned into the financial services industry in 2006 and obtained her life insurance license in 2007, driven by her interest in personal finance. For many years, Kelly supported our business behind the scenes through our back office. In 2025, she transitioned into the SecurePlan team directly, making her an official and invaluable part of the team.
Throughout her career, Kelly has held key roles such as Case Coordinator and Office Manager, giving her a deep understanding of advisor operations, client service, practice management, and business development. Her experience allows her to support client relationships with confidence while ensuring the business runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Kelly is known for her exceptional organizational skills, calm professionalism, and positive attitude. As New Business & Operations Manager, she oversees a seamless onboarding process for new clients, guides them through the application and underwriting stages, and manages our CRM and internal workflows to keep everything organized and efficient.
Kelly lives in the Niagara Region with her husband, and their sons. She enjoys spending time at the cottage with family and friends and can often be found at the ball diamond several days a week with her family.
Don Hiltz

We partner with Don and the SmartChoice Benefits team to deliver a high-quality, consultative, and cost-effective group benefits experience for our clients. Don has been in the group benefits industry since 1995, and he and Jeff originally worked together at RBC Insurance, where Don served as Regional Vice President, Canadian Group Sales.
Given his deep expertise and leadership in the benefits space, Don was a natural choice to support our clients. We believe strongly in specialization, and partnering with Don and his team ensures our clients receive knowledgeable advice, disciplined plan design, and seamless administration.
Don leads the consulting on plan design, benefits strategy, retirement programs, and ongoing plan analysis. His team also manages the day-to-day service delivery, including billing, administration, and member support, acting as the single point of contact for your group benefits program.
Together, we combine deep technical expertise with hands-on, responsive service to ensure your benefits plan runs smoothly and supports your business goals.
